Wakefield played a double header last weekend and came out with mixed results.
In the Saturday game away at Belper, the Grovers came out on top with an excellent 6-1 win.
After a shaky start, Wakefield soon settled into their stride and after 26 minutes Greg Mourhouse opened the scoring from Wakefield’s first penalty corner. 3 minutes later Mourhouse was well positioned close to goal to finish off a great team move.
Belper hit back after half time and Wakefield struggled to get a quality ball out of the back 4. A strong shot from top left found the net after 44 minutes but Wakefield regrouped and again a superb passage of passing and ball retention on 51 minutes led to Sam Shute scoring from close in. Belper’s heads went down and Wakefield were rampant with Moorhouse completing his hat trick on 54 minutes with Steve Roche scoring on 60 minutes and Aussie Angus Boulton roofing the 6th goal on 63 minutes.
