Bowls - Mixed Pairs

We have 2 crown bowling greens so (except for very rare occasions) one is available for social bowling all year round.

We have:

  • 2 teams in the Wakefield Veterans League (Monday afternoon)
  • 2 in the Wakefield League (Saturday afternoon)
  • 2 in the Workshops League (Wednesday evening)
  • 3 in the Ossett & Horbury League (where the A & B teams play Thursday evening, the C team Tuesday evening and a team in the Mirfield league Tuesday evening).

We have a number of internal competitions – some men only, some ladies only, some mixed – the majority of which are handicapped.

First go Bowling

BowlingA bit of background information

The Wakefield Bowls Club was the first section of Wakefield Sports Club, founded in 1854.

The club competes in several local leagues:
Ossett and Horbury (3 teams in various divisions), Mirfield league, Workshops, (2 teams), Leeds South (Wednesday Half Holiday league), Wakefield league (2 Teams), Wakefield Veterans league (3 teams) and the Castleford Ladies league.

Bowling takes place throughout the year (weather permitting) and we are fortunate enough to have a floodlit green.  Our pavilion, situated between our greens, contains all the facilities required by a busy club.
